“It is simple. He is free! There is no more of this ‘the wolf’ nonsense, he is both so he does not
run.”

“He does hide however, and that gives me precious little to go on in terms of modifying the Wolfsbane!”

“Ah but humans forget we are still creatures. Stop hunting him. He will come to you.”

Severus decided he enjoyed having Madame Maxime as a colleague because she didn’t meddle. “Stop hunting him. He will come to you,” had been more than research advice, but even then it was only a gentle shove. A week of not hunting however means a week of not creating a procedure- Severus stopped mid thought to compare the original procedure to the all the modified procedures he’d created. To continue to call it Wolfsbane is absurd. He smiled, as he set about naming his potion. He hadn’t even picked up his quill when there was a knock at the door.

A/N: This was indeed inspired by On The Shoulders of Giants but stands alone as well :)


Severus mentally slapped himself. He never panicked. He also never brought tea into his lab. As he watched the dark brew turn the honey colored potion into a familiar amber, the researcher took over. Could bergamot tea change the efficacy of the potion? Thank Merlin I take it black. Severus consulted the potions ingredients for possible interactions, then his improved procedure for timing and potential instability. The bergamot extract will either replace the bicorn powder or… the caffeine will accelerate the transformation or…I must ward the Shack. Cursing the anti-apparition twice he walked to the passage, robes billowing behind him.
