Title: Tea Towel
Pairing: Snape/Lupin
Words: 8 x 100
Rating: G to hard R, I reckon
Prompt: Alphabet-H for House Elf
A/N: I'm pretty sure the house elfness is present in each piece. Since there's clearly no way I'm going to write more drabbles than you maniacs with the dozens (:D) I went for making one coherent story which is also eight teeny stories. I therefore didn't title them separately--clearly I sucked at coming up with even one title.

Title: Seventy-six
Words: 100
Rating: G
Prompt: Dancing
Warning: sap

The anniversary goes unremarked by the wizarding world at large.

Last year, of course, there was a gala event: seventy-five years since the end of The War. The banners were huge and obnoxious (Harry Potter! Harry's Friends! Great Men! And some spies who really weren't that important). The party went into the night, with streamers and fireworks and dancing throughout.

This year, there is nothing. Seventy-six years isn't special.

Unless, Severus thinks, one's aging werewolf partner insists on struggling from his chair to stand, so they can dance at home to horrible perfect disco from their youth.

Then, it's special.

Rating: PG maybe
Characters: Snape, Lupin, Trelawney
Challenge: The Daily Prophet

"The Grim! The Grim! Severus, Severus--"

Severus groaned and took Remus's arm, hustling them away, regretting more than ever that he had promised 'no hasty hexing' as part of his vows.

Remus was chortling as they went.

"She's not funny."

"Oh, come on. That one wasn't bad. Better than yesterday--even if a wolf isn't quite a dog."

"Indeed."

"I'll admit, I'm surprised you haven't turned her into a newt yet."

"I promised--"

"At this point, I hardly think it would be hasty, but I do appreciate the restraint."

Bugger. Released from the promise, and still constrained by implied reward.

Pairing: Snupin
Words: 100
Challenge: Dialogue
A/N: Sorry for the spam, but they're such different tones they don't go together.

"Severus?"

"Lupin. Go away."

"No."

"I'm warning you only once. This is no time--"

"I don't agree. This is exactly time."

"Silen--"

"Expelliarmus. Severus. I'm no threat, and you shouldn’t be alone."

"You presume to know what I need? For reference, I am always alone."

"Not right now."

"Lupin, just go."

"I remember when my mother died, you know."

"I doubt our experiences are similar."

"Still, I would sit with you."

"Why?"

"So you don't have to sit alone."

"…Why?"

"Shh. Tomorrow is good for talking. Now is good for remembering."

"…The service felt worse than I expected."

"I know."

"Severus? Where--oh, dear."

"Get me down."

"You've been prying into Verity's Christmas gifts."

"Get. Me. Down."

"Honestly, Severus. I told you to leave them. You can't keep a secret from the child to save your life."

"I saw the trap and was concerned, so I checked. Now. If you don't get me down right this instant--"

"You'll what? Continue hanging up there in a pink mesh tutu? Is that glitter in your hair?"

"I wouldn't know; this is your bloody trap."

"I can let you down, but… the costume stays."

"Pervert."

"You're the one that set off the trap."

Challenge: Sacrifice
A/N: this was the image that came to me right away for this prompt. No idea.

"I don't mind." Severus turned away.

Remus sighed. "Look, I know it bothers you. It's not unreasonable. I've been doing this alone for decades now, and it's fine."

Severus didn't look around at him. "And I say, it's fine for me to stay. Unless you prefer my absence." His back stiffened slightly at that last, and Remus knew agreeing it was that would only be hurtful.

"Severus. I frighten you. You get even less sleep than I do."

"I can stand that, one night a month."

Remus smiled, glad for the company, and sat down to wait for the moon.

"Lupin. What's wrong with it?"

"Severus. It is a he, and nothing. Just hold him."

"It's wailing. It's loud."

"Of course he's wailing; you're holding him at arm's length, as though he were repugnant. They need to feel loved. Wanted."

"Perhaps I should tell it. We wanted you; now stop wailing."

"I don't think he's ready for abstractions yet. At this stage, cuddling and holding him close--"

"I'm… not certain I know how."

"And I think you do. Here, put your hand here, and here, and …see? He likes that."

"I believe… I do too."

"What was that?"

"Nothing."

It would take getting used to.

The skin that had once been taut over young muscles was now softer, more prone to sagging, more webbed with lines, some fine, some deep.

Severus looked again, for the tenth time in as many minutes on this, their first night home since he awoke. "Why?" he finally asked. "Why did you remain?"

Remus turned. "Would you have not done? Would you prefer I had not?"

Severus thought about that for a moment. "No."

"Then that's why."

"Still. Six years…"

"Plenty of excuse to make up for lost time. If you like."

"I do."

"Lupin, I do not say this lightly. This is the worst idea you've ever had for our holiday."

Remus opened one eye and lazily glanced over. "You have to relax, Severus. You're too tense."

"I am not tense."

"You're sitting up so straight I nearly expect a geometry teacher to arrive and use your spine as a lesson in perpendicular lines."

"Good posture is never wrong." Severus let his shoulders fall a fraction of an inch.

Remus shook his head, holding the pole casually. "They'll never bite. They can probably feel you glaring."

"I said it was a wretched idea."

"They won't mind. They won't see."

"Doing that under a Disillusionment charm is--"

"No. I rather thought we might go in here."

"This is an inn. We have a perfectly good house--"

"They won't mind if we …borrow a room, as long as we don't steal the soap."

"They certainly would; however, it would seem. Oh. Do that. Yes. Seem. I don't. care."

"Lupin."

"Hmm?" Remus didn't look up from the page he was about to turn.

"Sunset is in two hours."

Remus looked up. "Mm-hm." He flipped the page, carefully hiding a smile. "Was there something you needed me to do during daylight hours?"

"I thought we might …put that time to use, as the full moon--."

"Yes, I'm familiar with the workings of the lunar cycle."

"Sex makes the wolf more docile," Severus commented almost mildly.

Remus looked up. "Your motives are entirely altruistic, then."

"Entirely."

Remus set down his book. "Then of course, I shall take your suggestion under advisement."

A/N: Post-war, Severus damaged, and my apologies for the lame use of prompt. Suspend disbelief as to why.

Severus watched the countryside pass as Remus drove their inconspicuous Muggle car east.

Finally, after a lengthy airplane ride (horrifying) and well over an hour in the car, he'd had it. "Lupin. I realize I said anywhere--"

"We're nearly there, Severus. Honestly. It's uncrowded, quiet, secluded--"

"Sixty miles from the nearest pub?"

"Why would that be relevant?"

"It was merely an example. You still have your magic. Mine burned out when--perhaps you recall."

"I do. Trust me."

Severus sighed, then looked dubiously at the sign as they drove into the tiny town. "Where--"

"Home."

"…Sweet Home?"

It had taken a bit of negotiating to get it right.

The furniture had been easy enough; Remus's couch was in better condition, Severus's easy chairs were more comfortable, and neither of them had a coffee table that was worth much, anyway.

Other things were less straightforward. Forty-eight years of memories, often in conflict, didn't fit easily onto the mantel, and opposing stylistic attitudes--one homey, one spare--were hard to mesh so they were both comfortable in their own sitting room.

However, once each concluded the only really important item was the other, it wasn't so hard, after all.

"And this one?"

"I think that one's pretty clear." Remus moved Severus's hand off the scar from the bite.

He put it back. "Yes, but we're telling each other about each one." He traced the ragged outline, chin propped on Remus's bare shoulder.

Remus caught his wrist and turned it over to show the puckered flesh of the underside. "I suppose you'll tell me all about how you got this one?"

"When it's your turn. Right now, I'm learning about your body." He moved on. "This one?"

Remus rolled over and smiled. "Wombat accident."

Severus sat scowling on the sofa, watching Remus sit in the chair across from him.

Finally, Remus leaned forward. "Did you need help, then?"

"What?"

"In the kitchen. You invited me back here for dessert."

Severus focused on a point above Remus's shoulder. "No."

Remus raised his eyebrows. "All right." He leaned back in the chair.

They waited another tense several moments before Severus couldn't take it any more. "That wasn't what I meant," he said, barely audible.

"What you meant by what?"

"Dessert." He looked away.

Remus blinked, then grinned and stood to step over the coffee table. "Good."

Polyjuice, disillusionment charms, and a rock-solid Occlumentic wall meant even in hiding, Severus could get along; but he could neither contact nor receive news from anyone.

He was just selecting oranges when the outcry drew his attention.

There was Macnair, writhing on the ground, clutching his forearm before dissolving into horrible acidic slime.

He felt the sizzle of change on his own arm, and surreptitiously raised his sleeve to look.

It was …gone.

He stared stupidly for a moment, then bit his lip and went to add parchment to his trolley.

Dear Remus, the letter began. I've news to share…
