Severus screamed, doubled over, clutched his arm...

"Severus!" Remus was afraid to touch him; he fell to his knees and hovered, hands inches from Severus' body. "Tell me what you need."

The Dark Mark was boiling away, raising red, oozing welts on his left forearm. Remus pointed his wand at the Mark and tried every spell he could think of, from Finite Incantem to Flame Freezing Charms to Freezing Charms. Severus' forearm burst into flame.

"Tell me what you need."

Finally, in desperation, in despair, Remus grabbed Severus' face between his hands and kissed him.

The flames began to die.
