You have no idea what kind of pleasure my quill and red ink used to give me. What positive glee there was in scrawling a "D" across Potter's papers. But one unfortunate day, you stared at my slightly unorthodox grading system with a disappointed expression, before you shook your head and walked away.

I suddenly felt very foolish. Like I didn't live up to your expectations of what you thought I could be. So, I began to re-read the brat's essay.

Because maybe Potter in some indirect and round-about way deserved an Acceptable.

And I just wanted to deserve you.
