Harry never said what it took to transfer custody of Teddy to Remus, and Remus never asked.
The summer bank holiday came soon after they had settled into small cottage in Snowdonia. The weather was so lovely that Remus decided to spend the day in Aberdaron. He'd never been here with Dora, so it was all new, from the whitewashed cottages to the rocky beach to the sight of Enlli across the water.
A fishing cove was all but deserted; the diehards were out on the Irish Sea, while the rest were enjoying the day off with their families. Remus carefully conjured a blanket and settled down for an impromptu picnic. He had scarcely unpacked his lunch when a shadow fell across his meal.
He looked up and nearly dropped his sandwich. "Severus? You're - you're - "
"Not dead." His old antagonist dropped down onto the blanket. "Any more than you are."
Remus nodded, then slowly handed him a sandwich. Severus looked almost bony, and his hands shook slightly. "Eat something and tell me about it."
"Only if you do."
A seagull glided overhead and settled in the rigging of a fishing smack. Remus smiled. "Of course. Lemon squash?"
