Severus had never expected such easy communication with Remus.  It never ceased to amaze him that after all their stormy history together, they had discovered this space, this easy place where words were not required.

It seemed to Severus that Remus could translate his every expression, each nuance of body movement.  A raised eyebrow was a challenge; a slight tilt of the head, a question; a subtly raised chin with a sidelong glance, a seduction; an unblinking gaze, a clearly-articulated declaration of passion.

The ongoing mission to reverse the effects of Nagini’s venom and restore Severus’ speech was appreciated but hardly required; in silence they had found love more treasured than any words.
