Challenge: By the Sea
Word Count: 100
He lived there, in the odd, crooked house, for months before any villager approached. They were always suspicious of new people, particularly ones that lived alone in supposedly haunted houses overlooking the sea.
But when little Sarah mentioned she’d walked there and the nice man gardening gave her a posy, Joseph decided to meet him.
Soon he was looking at what was less a garden than a shrine of herbs and flowers surrounding a tiny plot, just big enough for a buried urn.
A scarred, silver-haired man appeared, eyes shadowed and sad.
“He always wanted to live by the sea.”
