Title: First Encounter

Remus stepped out of the apothecary with the new issue of "Potions Weekly" tucked under his arm. He took a few steps away from the door and prepared to apparate with a small meow caught his attention. Looking down, his amber eyes locked with blue ones.

"Hello."

The white kitten meowed again and rubbed against Remus' legs. He reached down and scooped the kitten up. Remus held the kitten out to better look at it.

Are cats eyes supposed to twinkle like that?

He smiled when the kitten began to purr. "You don't think Severus would mind another cat, do you?"

Remus held out the white ball of fur to Severus. "Surprise!"

Severus looked between the kitten held out to him and Remus. "We already have a cat."

"You said you wanted more. Surprise!"

The kitten, with twinkling blue eyes struggled to get out of Remus' grip. Remus set the kitten down after a moment of struggling. The two men watched as the white kitten met the black cat they already owned.

"Look, they’re bonding!"

"Sniffing ones genitals does not constitute bonding."

"Sure it does. I sniff yours all the time."

Severus met Remus' grin with a scowl.

"Come on, Severus. Lets bond."

"Some ground rules need to be established." Severus said after a few moments of rest. Remus' idea of bonding was certainly better than what he had witnessed earlier.

"And they are?"

"You’re not allowed to bring home stray cats."

"You said you wanted a farm full of them." Remus grinned and ran his hand along Severus' arm.

"I've changed my mind."

"Liar. You love it and you know it."

"I never said anything of the sort."

Remus ignored Severus. "I'm thinking a tabby would be a fine addition to our mix."

Severus scowled up to his lover. Insufferable sodding werewolf.

Severus eyed the new addition to his home with wariness. There was something about that kitten that was far too familiar for his liking.

"There is to be no clawing of the furniture or climbing of the drapery."

The kitten, now dubbed Mentor upon learning it was actually a he, cocked his head to the side and simply stared at Severus with his blue eyes.

"Do not eat the plants. You are expected to catch any rats you may come across."

Severus paused. It was essential Mentor knew the rules of his home.

"You are expected to annoy Lupin as much as possible."

That's what made me giggle this morning in the shower.

Gotta love the things that spew from Remus' mouth. XD
