Authors Notes: Um...this is kind of the imaginary moment before that fateful event in the Astronomy Tower.

They stood on separate sides, unable to face each other outside of the shadows. Their eyes met and they looked away.
“I don’t have a choi—.”
“I know.”
He wished he didn’t know. It wasn’t meant for anyone to know.
“They’ll be here soon. I…I can’t be here, with you.”
Remus turned away.
He could hear the soft press of his feet walking towards the door. He dared himself to watch him walk away. He couldn’t.
“One day things will be good again, Severus.”
And though he couldn’t see it, Severus smiled, because he knew that Remus was right.
