"Another wedding gift?" Remus peered over his reading glasses at the elaborately wrapped package.

"I'm afraid so." Severus scowled at the card. "It's from Horace Slughorn. He probably wants to be named godfather so he can boast about it over coquilles St. Jacques at his club."

"He won't be happy when he learns that we've asked Minerva and Harry."

"He hasn't been happy since I came back to teach." Severus dropped into a chair. "Let him stew."

Remus aimed his wand at the package. "We should see what it is before we donate it to charity."

Severus shrugged. "I suppose."

An aphrodisiac one thousand times more efficacious than powdered rhino horn, it was both extremely difficult and highly illegal to obtain, horned slugs having been on the list of endangered magical species since 1749. “Tell me,” he asked, “is it from the Abyssinian species, or the Arabian?”

Lucius stared. “Ah. It appears I may have made a rather embarrassing faux pas,” he admitted, passing Severus that day’s Prophet, with its headline: Mysterious Disappearance of Potions Master.
