Trapped like an animal up against the wall, feeling the stones grinding into his back.
He couldn’t move to his right or left, knees shaking with stress to stay still.

He could feel the intense stare that was keeping him immobile, making him sweat and clammer further back into the wall.
Slowly approaching him, normally shy Remus Lupin was anything but shy, predatory smile on his lips.

Severus tried to go for his wand, but Lupin’s eyes made if feel as though, if he were to move, he would go down like a rabbit who encountered a hungry wolf.

"There really isn't anyone else." Minerva briskly gathered her papers together.

"What about Hagrid?" Severus grabbed at her arm as she headed for the door. "Filius?"

"Too large and too small." Minerva peered up him. "You are the only suitable men on the faculty."

Remus exaggerated his limp. "Headmistress, my knee - "

"Poppy can bandage it," said Minerva. "If you'll excuse me? I need to contact the Mayor."

Remus stared at Severus, who stared back. "Village football? A friendly match? In March?"

"She hasn't given us a choice." Severus heaved a sigh. "Do you think Quality Quidditch sells cleats?"

“Come on,” said Remus softly touching Severus’ cheek, “admit it.”

Refusing to meet his eyes, Severus looked down at the ground. “Admit what,” spat Severus.

“That you like me.”

Those eyes, those brown eyes... stunning and honest. Yet they were also forceful. Feeling trapped in Remus’ gaze, Severus regretting looking up. How could he get away with lying to those eyes?

“I um...” began Severus.

“Yes?” asked Remus expectantly.

“Damn you, Remus.”

“Why?”

“I’m not going to lie.”

“About what?”

“How I feel.”

“Severus-”

“Don’t. You know you’re only making it worse.”

“What?”

“Nevermind.”
