Title: A Matter of Interpretation
Words: 100
Rating: G
Challenge: Valentine's Day
Characters: Remus/Severus
Remus stared at the object floating above their bed. Fist-sized, veins glistening, it squirmed - no, pulsed.
"Severus, is that-- "
"Just look."
Queasily, Remus watched the heart burst into rolling liquid fire. Flames contorted in searing heat. A silhouette flickered - wolf and serpent - before collapsing in a sprinkle of golden ash.
"He was a martyr," Snape snapped, seeing Lupin’s dismay. "Not the idiot you’d think from the flowers and candy."
"Ah. Burned?"
"Beaten, stoned and beheaded." Snape lifted his chin. "Artistic license."
"I see."
Snape scowled. "If the conflagration of my heart means so little, I do have chocolate."
