Characters: (Remus/Severus)
When they are young, Snape is angry and combative, and attacks Remus because he is weaker. Others get involved by proxy, until it explodes. Then it simmers quietly for a while.
When they are old, Snape is bitter and angry, and attacks Remus because he doesn’t fight back. Again, others get involved. It explodes, it simmers.
When they’re even older, Snape is tired and bitter, and attacks Remus because it’s something familiar. Third time’s the charm, though: this time Remus kisses him like he’s supposed to. It’s a comfort to Snape that while some things never change, others still do.
