"Seventy-six" (gen, relative to this being a Snupin comm)

Title: Seventy-six
Words: 100
Rating: G
Prompt: Dancing
Warning: sap

The anniversary goes unremarked by the wizarding world at large.

Last year, of course, there was a gala event: seventy-five years since the end of The War. The banners were huge and obnoxious (Harry Potter! Harry's Friends! Great Men! And some spies who really weren't that important). The party went into the night, with streamers and fireworks and dancing throughout.

This year, there is nothing. Seventy-six years isn't special.

Unless, Severus thinks, one's aging werewolf partner insists on struggling from his chair to stand, so they can dance at home to horrible perfect disco from their youth.

Then, it's special.

I love fics where the two of them grow old together. I really do. It's one of the few times I'll tolerate sap. I can just see them, with Snape still being grumpy and snarky, and Lupin, who sits by the fire and reads and drinks tea, loving him just the same, and just shakes his head a bit and smiles indulgently.

It does get to me sometimes, because I'll never have someone to grow old together with.
