Title: Samhain
Word Count: 110
Rating: PG
Challenge: Ghostly encounters
Characters: Remus/Severus and a lot of other lost friends
Authors Notes: post HBP, part of ongoing sonnet obsession, but this time 10 words over.

Samhain

When Sirius did not become a ghost
Because he was a Griffindor, and brave
Then Harry felt the loss of him the most
No godfather, no portrait and no grave.

Now Remus stands to listen by the Veil
Where Sirius, James and Albus whisper still
No ghost or living person hears his wail
His lupine grieving howl against his will.

"Oh Severus, you let yourself be lost
You raised your wand against someone you loved.
I lose you too. Somehow I pay the cost
Of this Dark curse that has your treason proved.

I lose them all, the living and the dead
I hear them, whispering inside my head."

Wow, that was a fantastic sonnet! And very emotional. Beautifully done. ^_^

This is really well done. An interesting idea.

The tragic truth for the lupin and Snape relationship, it makes Lupin have an unfortunate list of tragedies to deal with. I love your first stanza to death... and overall the whole thing is quite lovely of course. An excellent concept for a Snape/lupin sonnet and the meter turned out well on this one (and only one slant rhyme as well!)

So last sonnet huh? They are rather addictive aren't they... but I was just thinking I better start writing a longer prose piece as well before I forget how. I have not written anything longer than 400 words in a painfully long time. Must remember how to be graceful with adjectives without being purple... and clean the rust of disuse off my brain.

I will be waiting to read whatever prose you come up with. ;)

Well, it went a long way toward it. Angst is like crack for me. :)
