Polyjuice, disillusionment charms, and a rock-solid Occlumentic wall meant even in hiding, Severus could get along; but he could neither contact nor receive news from anyone.

He was just selecting oranges when the outcry drew his attention.

There was Macnair, writhing on the ground, clutching his forearm before dissolving into horrible acidic slime.

He felt the sizzle of change on his own arm, and surreptitiously raised his sleeve to look.

It was …gone.

He stared stupidly for a moment, then bit his lip and went to add parchment to his trolley.

"What is that?"

Remus looked in the direction Harry pointed, spotting Severus engaged in conversation with Draco.

"That is Severus, Harry. You haven't gone and bonked your head somewhere, have you?"

"No, I know that, but what's he doing?"

Remus looked at his lover again and mimicked exactly what Harry was inquiring about.

"I believe it's called smiling, Harry."

"Yes, I can see that, but why?"

The apprehension in Harry's eyes made Remus chuckle.

"He's in a bit of a celebratory mood."

"What for?" Harry asked.

"Severus asked me to marry him," Remus replied. "And I accepted."
