Challenge: Valentine's Day

Remus rolled over, clutching the blanket. Severus froze, watching Remus' breathing, which remained even. He looked unusually pale, even for the morning after a full moon. Remus also appeared to have chewed his blanket last night; Severus would need to bring him a new one.

Severus walked over, and slipped a single red rose under Remus' pillow. He then walked out to the living area and started to read.

A few hours later, Remus came out of the bedroom holding the rose. "Did you realize a rose under the pillow was a love spell?"

"It's not my area of expertise."

I tried to write a Valentine drabble for this challenge, and it ran away with me -- instead it's a dozen drabbles, 1200 words, so I left it in my journal instead of here: Valentine. I also remembered that I had, in fact, written a Snupin Valentine drabble more than a year ago, so I may as well repost it:

When he opens the Valentine, Remus knows that Severus has not meant to be cruel but adoring in the awkward manner of a lovestruck loner. He also suspects that Severus did not intend for Remus to identify him as the sender, for Severus does not know of Remus' preternaturally strong sense of smell.

Nor could Severus have guessed at the pain Remus would feel from the image on the card, a magically created photo of himself waving under a romantic moon, with "Dreaming Of You" printed across the bottom. Remus hopes that the quiet boy never witnesses the true nightmare.
