Remus stood still in complete shock. Severus couldn’t have just said…

“I…What?” Remus whispered, still beyond unbelieving. “What did you say?”

“I…I said I’m sorry. I crossed a line.”

“Well of course you did, but you never apologize!”

Severus sniffed. “Do you think I’m stupid? If I didn’t apologize you would never forgive me. I’m not entirely sure I could live with that.”

“Are you saying you’d miss me?”

The Slytherin shrugged. “Maybe. I hope to never know.”

“Severus...” Remus smiled and took his lover’s hand. “I love you.”

A flush covered Severus’ cheeks. “I love you too.” He mumbled.
